Grace Kelly Princess of Monaco

The Fondazione Memmo pays tribute to Princess Grace of Monaco by hosting the exhibition presented at the Grimaldi Forum during the summer of 2007, which traces different moments and aspects of Grace Kelly’s life. From being a Hollywood star to Monegasque princess, the itinerary of a wonderful woman, with an exceptional destiny.

The exhibition, skillfully curated by Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication of the French Republic since 23 June 2009, aims to lead the visitor into the heart of the memories of the “years of Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco”. A tribute exhibition that leaf through an album of images signed by the biggest names in photography (Howell Conant, Cecil Beaton, Irving Penn…), which reveals the correspondence exchanged by Grace Kelly with her friends in Hollywood and with the greats of the planet (Jackie Kennedy, Alfred Hitchcock, Callas, Cary Grant…), and which presents personal objects: a part of her wardrobe (including her wedding dress), jewelry and various fashion accessories, such as the famous Kelly bag by Hermès.

Cinema, her first life, will be widely represented. Editing of sequences from her most important films, wide space dedicated to Alfred Hitchcock’s film, “Rear Window”, but also excerpts from family films shot by Grace Kelly herself and which allow you to penetrate the intimacy of her daily life. Through a woman who died too soon, a whole era is outlined. An era that wants to forget the griefs of the Second World War. A time when a woman, Grace Kelly, leaves her native America and prefers, out of love, the old Europe.
